Learn More about Le Bic

It is the most grandiose panorama of the Lower St. Lawrence. A legend tells that at the Creation, the angel in charge of distributing the islands and the mountains emptied the rest of his bag at this place. Out of it came islands of great beauty. Bic is probably a diminutive of bicoque, or a typographical error: it should have read Pic.

Bic is no less than 12 bays and one peak, Champlain Peak, which reaches a height of 346 meters. Cut by the St. Lawrence estuary, this park is home to a particularly rich fauna, with the possibility of observing the American porcupine, the harbour seal and the common eider. Nature and animal lovers will be delighted by their visit to this park! If you are a nature lover, you will appreciate the diversity of this park, with its cliffs, bays, salt marshes and forests. On site, thousands of seabirds including the common eider that comes to nest, rare plants on the rocky capes and seals that bask in the sun near the shore.

Enjoy watching marine mammals, including a herd of grey and harbour seals, the park's emblem, basking on the boulders. In the Rivière-du-Sud-Ouest sector of the park, the observation points at Pointe-aux-Épinettes, from mid-tide to high tide, and at Anse aux Bouleaux, at low tide, are particularly suitable. Go to the reception desk to find out the time of the tides.
